A Dedicated and Passionate Technical Artist

I am Mary Rugg, a technical artist that has created a wide variety of digital renderings and models. Whether it’s for games or for films, I always give my 100% in what I do.

My Education

Undergraduate Degree

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in the Visual Language track from the University of Central Florida. It was a course developed and taught by ex-Disney employees from the then-closed Orlando studio.

Master’s Degree

At the Southern Methodist University Guildhall, I finished my Master’s degree in Interactive Technology, specializing in Art Creation. In my thesis, titled “Loading Mitigation within an Open World Fantasy Environment,” I looked into ways an artist can better disguise level transitions in the environment of open-world environments.

A Second Bachelor’s Degree

I received my Computer Science Degree at the Florida Atlantic University.

My Experiences

During my undergraduate life, I, together with 23 other students, worked on an animated short titled “Shadow Play.”

While attending the Guildhall, I had the opportunity to work on the games Gnomageddon, Taurus, and Odyssey. Each boasted its own unique style and gameplay.

My Love for Games

Before I went for my master’s degree, I participated in monthly drink-ups hosted by the Orlando chapter of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA). I also participated in the local annual Global Game Jam. My current go-to games are “Ratchet and Clank,” “Bravely Second,” and “Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward.”
